British Hen Welfare Trust Re-homing Day 20/08/2017

Another rewarding and satisfying day seeing almost 300 hens off to their retirement homes!

The hens arrived at the farm shortly after we did, around noon, and they were soon taken from their crates to the marquee to settle down before the re-homers arrived. The next hour or so was spent cleaning and sorting the crates and ensuring that the hens were okay as well as getting things ready for the hen collections. Shortly afterwards there was a nice flow of people coming in to pick up their new hens and there were a few adopters that had never had hens before so it was good to explain to them what to expect and how to feed and look after their new arrivals.

As usual the time flew by and soon 4pm came with around 300 hens spending their first night in their new coops !
